Five Days of Photos: Ireland 2009

Mr. Goddess and I are back from a rather spontaneous five-day vacation to Ireland with the lovely Swartzes and the lovely Keilys and it was all quite lovely.

Don’t believe me? Check this out:

Dingle Peninsula

Yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ about. You don’t see that running out to the Home Depot in Langhorne, now do ya?

    Saints and Spinners:

I would love to go on a spontaneous trip to Ireland. I’m hoping to make an unspontaneous trip to the UK and Ireland in 3 years, but I would take the spontaneous trip too.

Saints and Spinners: I have a friend who leads a very “hey, my relatives gave us their guest house in Ireland for a week — come join us” kind of life. It’s great having friends like that.

Fantastic. So simple, so small, but kinda perfect. And very on point with the current economic situation.

The day a filmmaker with an actual story to tell ("unobtanium?!" hilarious.) gets his or hands and this amazing visual technology, that will be something.

Sally Sparrow from Dr. Who is all-grown up! You do feel as if you are watching a star in the making in Carey Mulligan.

Funny in bits (best bit: Bill Nighy dancing) but not funny as a whole. A bit episodic, with a ridiculous ending.

The Coen brothers have made another divisive film: I really like it; Mr. Goddess hated it. I thought it was deeply funny and deeply ... deep.

Unlike other Michael Moore docs, this was more of a piece of investigative journalism than a political screed. Moore shines his light on for-profit prisons, the appallingly low salaries of airline pilots, and the "dead peasant" insurance policies companies take out on their own employees -- all in the name of making a profit out of anything.
